Wow this is actually happening! I am writing a blog. There are so many different reasons why this is a big deal.(One of the main reasons being I have started a few blogs and have only written once or twice in each.) But I am determined to keep this one up and running! You see, over the past years I have had a lot of really exciting things happen. I went to Thailand for three weeks on a missions trip (one blog). I got to go to Redding California with my mom to visit Bethel and (a few facebook posts). I attended Desperation Leadership Academy 2012-2013 (another failed blogging attempt).
But this blog is different. Yes, ultimately this blog is going to be about another adventure of mine. I will probably struggle trying to come up with something to tell you all about just like before. And I most likely will not sweep you all away with my cunning placement of words. This will continue to be a simple blog. So how is it different you may ask? For one of the first times in my life I am being moved by the Holy Spirit in a way that I can not describe. This blog is not about me, but rather what God is doing through me and in me. This blog is about being vulnerable and sharing what God is teaching me through this time in my life. I understand the calling that God has placed on my life. Its not to be well liked or popular or someone who everyone looks up to. It is to be a clean vessel for Him to use for His glory. It is for me to share my story with all of you so that he can make an impact though me.
The reason I named the blog Seek and Receive is very personal to me. A couple months ago I was at one of the noon prayer meetings we have at church. I was singing in the crowd and I heard God tell me, "seek me and I will give you your hearts desires." Seriously?! Thats it? All I have to do is seek God and he will give me my hearts desires? So thats what I began to do. I just began to seek Him out. And as I continued to seek Him out I began to see Him move in my life like never before!
Now just to clarify, seeking God out is not the easiest thing to do. There are so many times where I have to remind myself that it is not about me and what I am going to get out of any of this. So many times where I have to humble myself before the Lord and say, "thank you God for who you are and what you are doing through me." Looking back through my journal I see that almost every single one of them starts with "Thank you for your goodness", "Lord I repent for my selfishness", or "God I want more of you."
"Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you." Matthew 7:7
There is so much beauty in being broken. Not because its good to be a mess all the time! But because thats when God can use us the most. When we come to Him broken, scarred and empty He can then make us whole and fill us with Himself. That is what this blog is about! Getting to the point of being so broken and empty that Jesus can then come along side and guide us to His living water.
So now I'm all excited to share with you all! Please feel free to leave any comments or questions whenever. And if for some reason it seems as if I have dropped off the face of the earth and I have not written in weeks then please feel free to leave a comment on my contact page! Hopefully that never has to happen!
